From EFL to ESL: The Influence of Context on Learners’ Motivational Profiles

This is a report on changes in language learners’ motivational profiles when they encounter a contextual shift from an EFL to an ESL setting. A pilot study explores the possible changes in learners’ motivation orientations and their interrelation with learning effort and self-evaluated language skills.

This paper focuses on correlations between language and music, and how the brain processes them. The presenter will discuss research that has demonstrated that music is processed in similar ways to language and will use this data to show how music supports the Critical Period Hypothesis as well as innatism.

Building Cross-Culture with Brazilian Students through Counseling Interventions

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact counselors have on the adjustment of international students as they attempt to build cross-cultural bridges. This research explores the ways in which international students improve along the way as a result of effective support received from college/university counselors.
